The Mohawk women's basketball team saw its record drop to 1-8, losing for the sixth consecutive time, 78-51 to the Redeemer Royals, in OCAA action at Mohawk Tuesday (Dec. 4).
The Royals turned in a dominant performance to go to 3-7, to end the first semester's play.
Redeemer was strong out of the gate, leading 23-7 after the first quarter. The Mountaineers had a much improved second quarter, outscoring their Hamilton Mountain rivals 18-14, but still trailed by 15 points at half time and it was evident their young opponents would not catch them.
Tobie Brinkman scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds, to lead the Royals. Julia Pavlik had 16 points and Milkayla Blackburn added 15.
For the Mountaineers, veteran Sam Pocrnic led the way with a game high 19 points. Beth Minielly scored 10.
