Mohawk Women Cagers On A Bit Of A Roll

Sam Pocrnic turned in a dominant performance to power the Mohawk women's basketball team to its third straight OCAA victory, Thursday January 24.

Pocrnic scored 40 points, hauled down 15 rebounds and contributed four assists, as the Mountaineers downed the Redeemer Royals 82-78 in Ancaster.

Beth Minielly also had a double-double, with 15 points and 10 boards.

The Mountaineers bumped their record to 4-9.

"Sam obviously was fantastic tonight," said Mohawk head coach Kevin Duffy. "She scored 40, but also played great defence and kept her teammates in the game mentally. She is easily one of the best players in the league when she is locked in like that. I am so happy for the girls, They worked hard for each other all night and the energy on the bench was fantastic. it was a tremendous team effort," said Duffy
