The Mohawk women's basketball team suffered a second straight defeat at the Seneca Sting Classic Saturday(Jan. 5).
After Fanshawe beat them 99-47 the night previous, the Mountaineers second defeat was 67-37 to George Brown Saturday.
Beth Minielly scored 12 points, while Alex Parente and Kayla Calura had seven each.
"Again, certainly not the result we wanted," said Mohawk head coach Kevin Duffy, "but outside of a few three minute spurts, we are really seeing the improvement in our kids. Again, we will focus on the positives and get ourselves ready for, hopefully, a great second half," Duffy said.
In Friday's game, Sam Pocrnic, Calura and Minielly had 11 points, with Minielly adding 12 rebounds for a double-double.
"We were really encouraged by the first half" said coach Duffy. "We played with 'compete' and a lot more mental focus than we have all year. Unfortunately, we weren’t consistent enough in the second half and fell back into bad habits. The extra players we have now will help and hopefully get us some better results in the second half," Duffy said.
