Men's Volleyball Team Swept - Still Alive Though

The Humber Hawks swept the Mohawk Mountaineers in the final regular season OCAA men's volleyball match of the regular season. But Mohawk's still alive.

The Hawks won 25-18, 25-22, 25-14 at the DBARC.
Dylan Devecseri paced the Hawks with nine kills. Jake Gomes had 30 assists and 10 digs.
For the Mountaineers, Elijah Lopez and Joel Van Dyk each had seven kills. Daniel Fontanna contributed 23 assists and  Andrew King had nine digs.
Mohawk head coach Vinny Saporito didn't feel his team played badly, especially in the first two sets. "(the start) of the third set was a little rough" said the coach. "Emotions ran very high. But we showed we can go with them. A few things went against us and the boys let it get to them a bit. Volleyball is an emotional sport."
Mohawk finished the regular season with an 9-9 record. Humber was 16-2.
The Mountaineers will have a sudden death crossover playoff game at Seneca College Saturday (Feb. 16). If they were to win that they'd play Humber again, in their first OCAA match. Humber will host the provincial championship February 21-23.
