Deciding to go to college is one of the most important and exciting steps in your life. While applying to college is exciting, it can feel overwhelming and even complicated. So, we put together this helpful guide to walk you through the application process.

Keep in mind that this guide is designed for domestic students. International students can find information about applying on the International Student page

Step 1: Choose your program

One of the most important decisions that you’ll have to make is what you want to study. Some students know exactly what they want to take, others may have a few ideas and some students are still exploring all the options.

If you're unsure of what your interests are, our Career Match Quiz can help. This tool is a short quiz that will help you discover programs that suit you based on your personality and preferences.

If you have a few programs you want to explore check out our Custom Viewbook. This personalized viewbook lets you save and compare multiple programs of interest in an organized manner. The information provided is tailored to you based on what you select.

Step 2: Check the requirements

Once you’ve found a program it’s important to check the admission requirements because the last thing you want is to get your heart set on a program only to find out later on that you’re ineligible.

For example, does the program need a Senior Science, or Math? If we are looking for something you currently haven’t completed, we can assist by suggesting upgrading options.

At this time, it’s also important to keep an eye out for important dates such as program start dates and the equal consideration deadline for competitive programs.

Step 3: Complete your online application

Your next step is to head to ontariocolleges.ca and fill out your online application. You can apply to five programs total and up to three at one college. You will also have to provide the required academic documents which you can find more info on the FAQ: Transcripts page on ontariocolleges.ca. Before submitting your application, you will need to pay a $110 application fee.

Step 4: Accept your offer

Once you receive an offer to your program(s), it is important to accept the offer by the deadline indicated in your offer letter. Any offers that are received after February 1st are made on a first-come-first-serve basis.

At this point, it is important to keep an eye on your email so that you don’t miss any information from Mohawk regarding your Registration and Fee Guide package.
