Priscilla Patterson, is a Registered Nurse (RN) graduate of Canadore College (1987), Western University (BScN, 1992) and Brock University (MEd, 2003). From 1992-2001 she was the Perioperative Educator at St. Joseph's Hospital Hamilton and she brings a variety of nursing expertise including Med/Surg, Psychiatry, Obstetrics, Operating Room, Post Anesthetic Care, Acute Adult Care, Transplant, Plastics, Endoscopy and Day Surgery to her nursing students education. 

Priscilla has been a full-time professor of nursing at Mohawk since 2001 and has taught in various semesters of the practical nursing  (PN) program. She is also an adjunct professor of nursing in the collaborative McMaster-Mohawk-Conestoga BScN program with a teaching focus in RPN to BScN education and levels 3 & 4 of the Basic program.  Currently, Priscilla is the coordinator for the level 4 BScN program at the Mohawk Site and a consulting member of McMaster's Faculty of Health Sciences Indigenous Health Initiative (IHI) committees and working groups. 

Priscilla is a strong advocate of Indigenous student application, admission and retention in both the College and University Nursing programs, and for institutional and individual response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) calls to action. She also has experience in curriculum development in both the PN and BScN programs. Priscilla recently leads the development of a new core PN course entitled 'Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Doing in Healthcare' which aims to prepare the PN student to provide culturally safe care when engaging Indigenous Peoples in the healthcare environment. In addition to her academic expertise and achievements, she continues to provide nursing care to Perioperative patients at the Hamilton General Hospital where she works as an RN in the Operating Room. ​
