Jennifer Merriam: Transportation Engineering-Class of '93

Jennifer Merriam started Transportation Engineering Technology as a direct entry student, entering into second semester in the Winter of 1991 having previously graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Her enthusiasm and well-developed learning skills enabled her to quickly become the best academic performer in her class.

Merriam graduated with a 4.0 grade point average putting her in a very elite academic class. In 1992, she received both the 3M Canada Award and the Dr. John Frid Award.

In addition to her outstanding academic achievements, Merriam was an active member and leader in her class. She was elected by her peers as President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Student Chapter in the fifth and sixth semesters, and was a student member of ITE International. Merriam also organized and captained several intramural baseball and volleyball teams for the class.

Jennifer Merriam has also made a significant contribution to her community, acting as the Hamilton Local Coordinator for Canadian Crossroads International from June 1989 through May 1993. She was also a volunteer for the Victim Services (assisting victims of crime) from September 1992 through February 1993.
