Young Alumni Advisory Committee

The Mohawk College Young Alumni Advisory Committee serves to mobilize and engage young alumni volunteers and future leaders through enriching opportunities and experiences that cultivate relationships and foster pride which deepen engagement with the College. 

 

Members will have the opportunity to provide feedback and input on Alumni Relations Office activities and initiatives that relate to and impact young alumni.

Committee Guidelines: 

Composition

  • The Committee will have representation from alumni who have graduated within the last ten years.
  • The Committee will maintain a diversity of membership to ensure broad and meaningful representation that reflects the diversity of Mohawk College alumni.
  • Committee members can apply or be recruited by Alumni Relations
  • Each member will be appointed for a 2 year term and may be re-appointed for another 2 year term
  • Committee membership will be 8-10 members
  • A representative of the Mohawk Alumni Advisory Council will chair the Committee
  • Any vacancies throughout the year shall be filled with input from other members.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Young Alumni Advisory Committee will have two key roles:

 Advisors:

  • Provide advice to the Alumni Advisory Council and the Alumni Relations Office on young alumni programming and engagement activities.
  • Strive to represent young alumni from across campus to ensure diversity
  • Offer a unique alumni perspective to ensure that Alumni Relations’ programs and services are sensitive to the needs and interests of current young alumni.

 

Ambassadors:

  • Actively participate in alumni engagement events and activities and attend a minimum of two events per year.
  • Create a culture of philanthropy by providing students opportunities to give back to Mohawk

Operations and Meetings

Operations

The Committee will be coordinated by the Alumni Coordinator, Career Transition and Development.

Meetings

The Young Alumni Advisory Committee will meet quarterly. Additional meetings may be called as required.  Task forces may be developed as determined.  

The Alumni Relations Office in collaboration with the Committee Chair will set the agenda, lead and facilitate the meetings, and take meeting notes. The Alumni Coordinator will attend all scheduled meetings.

A time commitment of attending each of the four scheduled meetings within the academic year is required.
