Free LINC for Youth - Photography and Video Projects

Are you 18 to 25 years old? Learn photo or video skills while improving your English!

These programs are funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and are offered for FREE to eligible youth.

 

LINC for Youth Photography Project

Learn English and other essential skills to prepare youth for LINC-Youth Video Project and other higher level LINC classes that lead into postsecondary admission at Mohawk College and the workplace. 

 

Program Highlights:

  • Improve your Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing skills
  • Learn photography skills, computer editing, writing photo stories and comic strips
  • Computer labs, library and counselling to assist learning and career planning
  • Transportation assistance may be available to eligible students
  • New students will be accepted every Monday
  • Canadian Language Benchmark required 2 to 4

 

LINC for Youth - Video Project

Learn English and other essential skills to prepare youth for post-secondary education and the workplace. This program leads to the equivalent of Grade 12 English for post-secondary admission at Mohawk College.

 

Program Highlights:

  • Improve your Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing skills
  • Learn to make short videos and documentaries
  • Learn research, script writing, camera work, editing
  • Computer labs, library and counselling to assist learning and career planning
  • Transportation assistance may be available to eligible students
  • New students will be accepted every Monday
  • Canadian Language Benchmark required 3 to 6

To be eligible participants must:

  • Be permanent residents of Canada or protected persons (with Notice of Decision)
  • Be 18 to 25 years old
  • Meet the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) required for the LINC program.

After the Storm

Newcomer Youth Surviving Trauma (March 2010) tells the stories of young refugees who escaped from situations of violent conflict in their home countries, how that trauma has affected them, and how they are moving on in their lives.
