Phased re-opening plan for Mohawk's campuses

Mohawk’s campuses and learning hubs will re-open in phases. This is being done to allow time to implement any changes that are necessary to protect the health and well-being of our students and employees. The timing of each phase will depend on provincial restrictions and the recommendation of Public Health authorities. See below for a summary of the steps that will be taken during each phase.

Phases

Phase 1: Campus access by approval only for June, July and August

Access to all campus buildings and learning hubs will be by approval only for the months of June, July and August. General access to the campus will not be permitted.

During this phase:

  • Students may request to gain access to the campus to retrieve items from lockers, after June 1. Requests are to be made by email to security [at] mohawkcollege.ca. Please indicate the location of the locker, including campus and hallway in your email.
  • Anyone approved to come to campus must complete a screening questionnaire prior to their arrival on campus. The questionnaire is available on the Mohawk Safety App under the Covid-19 section (main page). You must complete the screening on the day you are coming to campus. The results of your screening will be emailed to you and to Mohawk Security. Please show the approved access screen or email to Security when entering the college. The app also contains information and updates from Mohawk related to COVID-19.
  • Employees who are not required to be on campus will continue to work remotely.
  • Enhanced screening protocols will be in place with entry restricted to specific doors and parking restricted to specific lots.
  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols will continue and appropriate physical distancing measures are to be followed throughout the campus.
  • Beginning July 6, as recommended by Public Health Canada, anyone coming to campus will be required to bring and wear a non-medical mask or covering that covers your mouth and nose. Mohawk College will not be providing masks. Masks are required on campus when physical distancing is not possible. If Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for your program, it will be provided for you. If you require accommodation with wearing a mask, please contact equityandinclusion [at] mohawkcollege.ca.
  • Until July 6, anyone approved to come to campus should follow the direction of the Public Health Agency of Canada and wear a non-medical mask/facial covering when it is not possible to consistently maintain a 2-metre (6 foot) physical distance from others. Masks and face coverings will not be provided by the college.
  • Fitness Centres and gymnasiums will remain closed.

Phase 2: September to December

Assuming the Province’s plans to reopen the economy continue without disruption, Mohawk is planning for the second phase to begin in early September to coincide with the start of Fall semester. For the fall semester, all lecture-based program components will be delivered in a remote/virtual environment while required labs, simulations and assessments will be delivered on campus.

During this phase:

  • Most campuses and learning hubs will re-open with controls in place to minimize the number of people on campus and reduce on-campus activities.
  • Access to campuses and learning hubs will be restricted to employees who are required to be on campus for the delivery of academic programing or other duties that require them to be on campus, and to students who are required to attend campus for labs, simulations and assessments. Employees and students must leave the campus once their work or study related activities are complete.
  • Employees who are not required to be on campus will continue to work remotely.
  • Enhanced screening protocols will remain in place with entry restricted to specific doors.
  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols will continue and appropriate physical distancing measures will be in place throughout the campus.
  • Fitness Centres and gymnasiums will remain closed for general use but may be used for academic delivery.
  • Anyone coming to campus will be required to bring and wear a non-medical mask or covering that covers your mouth and nose. Mohawk College will not be providing masks. Masks are required on campus when physical distancing is not possible. If Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for your program, it will be provided for you.
