Adobe InDesign Basics – COMP10120
Learn to use this popular desktop publishing and design software. Create single and multiple page documents with columns, integrate text and graphics and use other features for pamphlets, newsletters, flyers, etc. Access to Adobe InDesign CS6 or CC required. 42 hours.
Adobe Photoshop I – INFO10278
Develop design and image creation skills using Adobe Photoshop. Explore how to source images, create, develop, and assess various design solutions and execute projects in a professional manner. 42 hours.
Adobe Photoshop II – INFO10279
Further develop skills obtained in Adobe Photoshop I. Restore black and white images and gain skills in image correction by using blurring, adjustment layer, layer masks and liquifying techniques. Produce content for various media. Prerequisite: INFO10278. 42 hours.
Advanced Design Principles – COMP10257
Students will learn the three C’s of Design: Composition, Components and Concept. Employing the principles within these three areas of design will provide a practical and versatile framework for their creative process, whether they are brainstorming for ideas, constructing a layout or finalizing a design for a presentation. Prerequisite: COMP10172. 42 hours.

Have you ever needed to design your own business card or flyer? Learn about fonts, different layout techniques, and simple layout concepts essential to effective graphic design. Adobe InDesign CS4-6, Word processor and Scanner required. Can support MAC users. 42 hours
Dreamweaver (Webpage Authoring) – COMP10138
Explore Dreamweaver. Learn to customize the DW working environment, create and manage sites and work with typography, images, tables, layers, frames and forms. Knowledge of HTML is recommended. 30 hours.
Dynamic Web sites with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) – COMP10155
Create dynamic web pages using PHP. Install the Apache web server and the MySQL database server and learn to interact with Apache and MySQL via PHP. Equivalent to: INFO10112. Prerequisite: COMP10106 (HTML Introduction). 56 hours.
HTML 1 – INFO10241
Learn the basics of Web Page Design including: XHTML, the fundamentals of style sheets, how to make images download quickly and look great, and how to get your completed site online. You MUST login prior to the sessions. Equivalent to: INFO10144 (Web Design Basics).

Java Advanced – COMP10180
Deal with advanced programming concepts and learn how to build Java programs that can access and manipulate data from database tables. Prerequisite: COMP10036. 42 hours.
Web Usability-Writing & Design – COMP10167
Focus on creating audience appropriate dynamic web sites. Discover how to use flow charts and navigational plans to design the framework for your sites. Learn to rewrite print based copy for use on the web, establish content guidelines and create sites that are accessible, usable and flexible. Analyze web site audiences and apply web usability testing principles to ensure good website design. Prerequisite: COMP10106. 30 hours
WordPress – INFO10202
Learn to build and maintain a self-hosted website using the WordPress hosted service. Includes: layout, themes, plugins and widgets. Gain the ability to expand and edit your own work after completion. Foundational knowledge of coding required. cPanel license and hosting fees included. 36 hours.
