This course examines various retaining structures, shallow and deep foundations, geotechnical structures, and pavements. Design criteria, safety factors, stability and soil consolidation are applied to the design of structures. Pre-Requisites: MATL CV504

Municipal Environmental Infrastructure – ENVR10046
An overview of municipal environmental issues associated with population growth, with emphasis on the planning, design, and operation of municipal water supply, wastewater and stormwater management, waste management and noise attenuation systems.
Ontario Building Code 2 – BLDG10102
Interpret and apply the Ontario Building Code - Part 3 and 9 along with related legislation in the design of small buildings.
Traffic Engineering C – TRAN10000
Use advanced traffic analysis, demand management techniques, and software applications to optimize traffic capacity in real time. Discover urban computer-based traffic control signal systems; signal network optimization software; highway capacity analysis software; freeway traffic management systems; and current issues, trends and advances in traffic engineering. Transportation Safety – TRAN10005
Perform various calculations related to the assessment of safety performance of transportation facilities including collision rates, appropriate collision modification factors (CMFs) and safety performance functions (SPFs), and network screening calculations. Complete an in-service safety review of a major transportation facility. Pre-Requisites: MATH MS474
Travel Demand Forecasting – TRAN10007
Apply principles and techniques involved in the urban transportation planning process as related to travel demand models. Learn new software skills in transportation planning.
