Continuing Education offers a selection of stand-alone courses each term that do not lead to a credential.

Admission Requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent (Mohawk Academic Upgrading, GED) OR 19 years of age or older.


NOTE: CSA approved safety shoes/boots and safety glasses/eyewear with side shields are mandatory for admittance in to all shops and are the responsibility of the student.

Guitar Building - Acoustic 2 – BLDG10127

Build upon the work started in Guitar Building - Acoustic 1 and work towards completing your acoustic guitar. Materials extra. No guarantee of project completion. Safety glasses and CSA approved safety shoes are mandatory and are the responsibility of the student. Prerequisite: BLDG10120.

Guitar Building - Acoustic 3 – BLDG10138

Check Availability

Continue working on your acoustic guitar build, focusing on finishing and assembly. Some materials included. CSA approved safety shoes and glasses are required.

Guitar Building - Electric – BLDG10128

Check Availability

Start to build your own T-style electric guitar under the guidance of an experienced guitar maker. Jigs and specialty tools are provided. Materials extra; approximately $300 - $600. Students must have completed Woodworking Level 2 or be able to demonstrate equivalent prior woodworking experience. Safety glasses and CSA approved safety shoes are mandatory and are the responsibility of the student.

Wood Finishing Basics – BLDG10135

Designed for beginners and expert woodworkers alike, learn the fundamentals of wood finishing through a step-by-step process focusing on texture, colour, sheen and protection. Includes surface preparation, application, different finishing options as well as tips for building with a finish in mind. Materials included. CSA approved safety shoes and glasses are required.

Woodworking for Women (Men Welcome) – BLDG10022

Produce several small woodworking projects from solid lumber in order to develop basic machine competency skills on the radial arm saw, band saw, table saw, jointer, planer, drill press and hand router. Tools supplied. Materials included. Theory and practical tests included. Safety glasses and CSA approved safety shoes are mandatory and are the responsibility of the student. Equivalent to: BLDGTZ070.

Woodworking Level 1 – BLDGTZ070

Further develop cabinet making skills by producing a fine hall or sofa table from solid lumber. Project may or may not be completed within the 12 weeks. Must supply your own materials. Safety glasses and CSA approved safety shoes are mandatory and are the responsibility of the student. Prerequisite: BLDGTZ070 or BLDG10022 completed within one year.

Woodworking Level 3 – BLDGTZ073

Check Availability

Build a piece of furniture or cabinet with the guidance of a cabinet maker. Use techniques from Levels 1 and 2 to build your own custom project (size limitations). Supply own plan and materials. Safety glasses and CSA approved safety shoes are mandatory and are the responsibility of the student. Prerequisite: BLDGTZ071.
