Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a hot topic these days, and not one that is just a fad or will be short-lived. Individuals and organizations are recognizing the power that EI has on their lives, both personally and professionally. That fact is, our emotions guide all we do, and increasing our ability to identify, understand, and manage our emotions is critical to enhancing the overall human experience. Emotional Intelligence is known as "the other kind of smart" and is the number one predictor of success both personally and professionally.

The Key to Personal and Professional Success

Emotional Intelligence (EI)  is an individual's ability to recognize, understand and manage their emotions and those of others. The key is to utilize self-awareness to communicate your feelings effectively while interpreting and responding to others. Both your personal and professional success is enhanced through strong Emotional Intelligence. Research indicates that 90% of top performers have a high degree of Emotional Intelligence. Developing EI is entirely within everyone's reach. The exciting news is our brain is like plastic, which means it's highly malleable and allows us to retrain ourselves. Emotions guide all we do; learn the power of harnessing your EI to enrich your life. This session will provide a solid introduction with some practical strategies to enhance your EI.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  1. Learn the science behind Emotional Intelligence
  2. Review the four core EI competencies: Self-awareness, Self-management, Social Awareness, Relationship Management.
  3. Learn the characteristics of Emotionally Intelligent individuals.
  4. Gain insights on ways to lead with EI.

  6. Learn what Emotional Hijacking is and how to avoid it.

 Being aware of your emotions and what triggers them is an asset few take the time to learn. We use our self-awareness skills to notice our feelings and judge if our needs are being satisfied. Self-awareness is a personal competency and the core of EI. Strong self-awareness is necessary to become successful, and a lack of it will limit your potential. This session will review essential self-awareness strategies to assist you in guiding your emotions as they occur.

 Participants will have the opportunity to:

  1. Learn about self-awareness: what it is and how it affects your success.
  2. Review several self-awareness strategies, and learn how to apply them to daily interactions.
  3. Learn about the power of empathy when interacting with others.
  4. Review ways to improve your self-awareness and improve your EI.

Powerful Self-Awareness Strategies That Will Distinguish YOU as a Leader

Regardless if you are a leader in your current role or not, leadership skills are necessary for all facets of life. As you become more skilled in this area, you will not only become more confident; you will be able to spot emotional triggers, practise productive ways to respond to others, and develop effective habits. Knowing your strengths and the areas you need to improve will provide the self-confidence required to be the best version of yourself. This session will give you will information and practical strategies to leverage your strengths to enhance your life.

1. Examine Self-Awareness competencies; emotional awareness, self-assessment, self-confidence.

2. Learn ways to lead while managing your emotions effectively.

3. Appreciate the role resilience and clarity play in your life.

Self-Management Skills to Enhance Your Performance

Controlling your emotions and managing the reactions of others is what will set you apart as an individual and leader in any situation. Developing your Self-Management skills will lead to better self-management, more meaningful conversations and healthier relationships with others. You use your self-management skills to express your feelings and act accordingly to benefit your connection. This session will provide you with sound strategies that will change how you approach situations and get the results you want.

  1. Examine Self-Management and the role it plays in our personal growth.
  2. Learn skills to regulate your emotions to distinguish yourself from others in any situation.
  3. Recognize the role of emotion and logic in managing behaviour.
  4. Learn techniques to manage your reactions to change the response of others.
  5. Review and practice several vital Self-Management strategies.

Session 4: Live Online Week 4 (2 hours) October 26th

Elevate Your Career with Strong Social Awareness

Social awareness is a core competency of EI and is centred on our ability to recognize and understand the emotions of others to enhance relationships. When we shift our focus from inward to outward, we develop a more accurate and useful view of our relationships and surroundings. Developing these skills will advance your interactions and strengthen relationships with others. This session will provide an overview of social awareness, ways to build it and will include practical strategies to enhance it.

 Participants will have the opportunity to:

  1. Examine Social Awareness and learn the benefits of recognizing and understanding your emotions.
  2. Develop ways to build and improve Social Awareness.
  3. Learn three essential components of Social Awareness
  4. Identify ways to manage challenging situations using Social Awareness strategies.
  5. Review 3 critical Social Awareness strategies.

Session 5: Live Online Week 5 (2 hours) November 2nd

Successful Relationship Management Enhances Your Career

Working with others is not always stress-free, but it's an essential part of our existence, so developing stable relationship connections should be a priority. Your success in relationship management is closely connected to your achievement in the other three emotional intelligence competencies; Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness. Being aware of your emotions and those of others is essential to successfully managing relationships over time. In this session, we will explore relationship management in-depth, with a focus on critical strategies.

 Participants will have the opportunity to:

  1.  Learn key ways to manage challenging situations using relationship management skills.
  2. Explore strategies to strengthen relationship management, and develop meaningful connections.
  3. Learn about the power of empathy when building relationships.
  4. Understand the importance of EI in the workplace.
  5. Review the skills required to develop and build relationships.
  6. Review competencies associated with relationship management.
