Join us in these courses which are of interest to home renovators, apartment superintendents and townhouse maintenance committees. Emphasis on what YOU can do and when to call in the experts.

Learn the basics of plumbing, electrical and get hands-on use of a variety of hand and power tools. Make home improvement and maintenance faster and easier! The Home Renovation for Beginners program will give you the tools and skills you need.

Continuing Education Skills
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent (Mohawk Academic Upgrading, GED) OR 19 years of age or older.
  • Successful completion of Secondary School English or equivalent.

You do not need to apply to begin this program. Start by ensuring you meet the admission requirements listed above and then register for the courses listed in the Program of Studies when they are offered.  Some courses have prerequisites, so please check the Program of Studies for details. Find out how to register for a course.

The program of studies displayed below applies to students starting the program in the 2017/18 academic year. Students who began in other academic years may require different courses to be eligible to graduate. BLDG10079 Flip That House

Obtain practical hands-on instruction on how to flip a house, from buying to selling, plumbing to curb appeal, details and the big picture. You will learn where to invest your $$money$$ and cost effective ways to enhance the property.

BLDG10086 Flooring and Mouldings

Get hands-on instruction for installing flooring, from hardwood to ceramic tile. Learn about styles, colours, patterns,and textures. Tips on measuring, layout and installation will be covered. Also, included is mouldings from baseboards, crown, rail and wainscoting. Safety glasses required.

BLDG10121 Bathrooms Explore ideas and concepts for refinishing and/or renewing your bathroom.  Includes design, assembling and hanging cabinets, hardware and tiling.  Material costs included in fee. (Note - this course does not cover Plumbing, see BLDG 10072)
