Join us in these courses which are of interest to home renovators, apartment superintendents and townhouse maintenance committees. Emphasis on what YOU can do and when to call in the experts.
Learn the basics of plumbing, electrical and get hands-on use of a variety of hand and power tools. Make home improvement and maintenance faster and easier! The Home Renovation for Beginners program will give you the tools and skills you need.

You do not need to apply to begin this program, simply ensure you meet the admission requirements (listed on the Admissions & Registration tab) and then you may register for any available courses.
Interested in taking a single course? No problem. Provided you have the appropriate prerequisites, these courses can be taken individually or as part of the full program.
Admission & Registration
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent (Mohawk Academic Upgrading, GED) OR 19 years of age or older.
- Successful completion of Secondary School English or equivalent.
You do not need to apply to begin this program. Start by ensuring you meet the admission requirements listed above and then register for the courses listed in the Program of Studies when they are offered. Learn how to maintain and improve all your basic plumbing! We will show you how to save $$$ by knowing what to look for. Step-by-step instructions from fixing a leaky faucet to installing a toilet and everything in between. Bring a tape measure, and CSA approved safety glasses and safety boots. 12 hours. |

Practical hands-on instruction for basic property maintenance. From changing your flooring, installing a doorbell, installing light fixtures to window coverings, let us show you step by step how to get the job done. 12 hours. |

Improve or Move |
Provides participants with an overview of how to maintain and renovate your existing home. There are no certifications or prior experience in home design or renovation required as prerequisites. Materials included. 12 hours. |

BLDG10105 | Learn to Tile Successfully | Learn the basic steps of tiling by starting with a simple project. Hands-on instruction will be given from selecting tiles to the actual installation and completion of a project. A good stepping stone to have the confidence to undertake a backsplash or similar project. Safety glasses and CSA approved safety shoes are mandatory and are the responsibility of the student. 10 hours. |
