  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent (Mohawk Academic Upgrading, GED) OR 19 years of age or older.

Explore the styles, supplies and equipment used in Chinese Brush painting to produce basic and simple strokes. 30 hours

ARTTPD102 Chinese Brush Painting 2 Focus on traditional techniques for painting flowers and birds with emphasis on classical fine line drawings using colour. Prerequisite: PD101  30 hours

Chinese Brush Painting 3 Practice basic classical techniques used in painting landscapes. Prerequisite: PD102   30 hours
ARTTPD104 Chinese Brush Painting 4

Experiment with the Chinese painting techniques used to render fish and animals in classical contemporary styles. Prerequisite: PD103  30 hours

ARTTPD105 Chinese Brush Painting 5

Through study of proportion and anatomy, learn to capture people of different ages in various poses. Prerequisite ARRTPD104 30 hours

ARTTPD106 Chinese Brush Painting 6 Experiment with a variety of compositions, materials and methods, while working with subjects of your choice. Prerequisite:ARRTPD105  30hours

Explore painting basics, use of materials, oil and acrylic paints, composition, and colour. Model fee included.30 hours

ARTTPD311 Painting 2

Examine historical developments in art and painting and experiment with various media and techniques. Model fee included. Prerequisite: ARTTPD211 Painting 1 30 hours

ARTTPD411 Painting 3

Develop a personal style, incorporating techniques and approaches from previous courses. PREREQUISITE: PD311 Painting 2. 30 hours

 Recognize and use the nuances of colour to create various effects. PREREQUISITE: PD411 Painting 3. 30 hours

 

ARTTPD611 Painting 5

Study various painting styles from the alla prima style of the Group of Seven to the broken colour of the Impressionists to the smooth, brushless quality of trompe l'oeil. PREREQUISITE: PD511 Painting 4.  30 hours

ARTTPD711 Painting 6 Explore personal imagery and possible commercial applications. Portfolio presentation is discussed. Prerequisite: PD611   30 hours
ARTTPD231 Watercolour Painting 1

Working from sketches or nature or simple objects, produce a finished painting showing movement and perspective. Model fee included. 30 hours

Using various techniques, complete pieces highlighting landscapes or a subject of your choice. PREREQUISITE: ARTT PD231 Watercolour Painting 1. 30 hours

ARTTPD431 Watercolour Painting 3

Concentrate on technical proficiency and composition, addressing your own objectives developed in consultation with your instructor. PREREQUISITE: ARTT PD331 Watercolour Painting 2. 30 hours

ARTTPD531 Watercolour Painting 4

Strengthen your understanding of composition: unity, dominance, repetition and balance, while working from still life. PREREQUISITE: ARTTPD431 Watercolour Painting 3  30 hours

Experiment with colour and colour temperature to produce four finished pieces demonstrating understanding of complimentary colour and triads. PREREQUISITE: ARTTPD531 Watercolour Painting 4.  30 hours
