The W.A.G.E Construction Program is a partnership between the Industry Education Council of Hamilton (IEC Hamilton), Halton Industry Education Council (HIEC), and Mohawk College. The funding for this program is provided by the Government of Ontario.

Priority is given to individuals who meet one or more of the criteria:

  • No prior post-secondary experience. (i.e., Not having previously completed an apprenticeship, and/or a certificate, diploma, and/or a degree at college or university).
  • Currently in receipt of Ontario Works (OW), ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program), or Employment Insurance (EI) (i.e., unemployed, underemployed, and/or receiving government financial assistance).
  • Have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic due to job loss.
  • Are immigrants or newcomers to Canada.
  • Are members of marginalized communities.
Do you meet any of the priority criteria described above?
Note: If no, you will be waitlisted and offered a spot only once registration has been completed for those who meet the priority criteria.
Will you be registered in another postsecondary course or program at the same time you intend to take the WAGE Construction program? (This includes full-time or part-time studies, continuing education, and/or apprenticeships programs within or outside of Mohawk College).
Note: Anyone who will be registered in another postsecondary course or program will not be eligible to register for City School courses.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

As per Mohawk College policy, COVID-19 vaccinations are required to attend City School in-person programs effective September 7, 2021. To attend in-person classes you must have had at least the first COVID-19 vaccine by that date but the second vaccination must be received by October 15, with proof of full (two-step) vaccination required by no later than October 30, 2021. Formal exemptions may be requested; additional supporting documentation and screening requirements will apply.

Once your registration is approved, you will be contacted by Mohawk College about this policy. There are two options:

Option 1: Proof of Vaccination 

  • For those who have received or plan to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, the process for submitting proof of vaccination will be communicated once your registration is approved.

Option 2: Request for an Exemption 

When do you wish to start the WAGE Construction Program?

Please note: You must be fully vaccinated 2 weeks prior to the start of the cohort you wish to apply for, or you must receive approval for a vaccine exemption before the start of the program.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday beginning on November 15, 2021 to February 16, 2022.
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday beginning on January 4, 2022 to March 29, 2022.
