Health Care 40-hour Online Course

Accessing the Health Care Job Market in Ontario will help you to:

  • Improve your communication skills for the health care sector
  • Learn about market trends, occupational requirements and pathways to work in your field
  • Increase your confidence when describing your skills and work experience in job interviews
  • Assess your employability and develop a job action plan for securing employment in your occupation

 

This 40-hour online course is for you if:

  • You have education or work experience in one of the following health care occupations: dental hygienist dietitian, medical laboratory technologist, medical radiation technologist, nurse, occupational therapist, personal support worker, physiotherapist, sleep technologist or social worker
  • You are a permanent resident of Canada or a protected person (with Notice of Decision) 
  • You have English at an intermediate level (Canadian Language Benchmark 6 to 8)
  • You are comfortable with using computers for learning and have access to a computer with video and audio capabilities as well as an Internet connection

 

When:

  • From January 14 to February 22, 2019
  • Participate in one scheduled online meeting per week and complete weekly assignments

Technology Course

OSLT Technology will help you to:

  • Increase your confidence in using English when interacting with colleagues, clients, supervisors and project team members
  • Improve your job interviewing and networking skills
  • Connect with local employers, industry associations and employment resources
  • Understand technology workplaces in Ontario

 

This part-time course is for you if:

  • You have education/training or work experience as Architectural Technologist and Technician, Engineering Technologist and Technician (Electrical and Electronics, Environmental, Industrial, Engineering and Manufacturing, Mechanical), IT Personnel
  • You are a permanent resident of Canada or a protected person
  • You have English at an intermediate level (Canadian Language Benchmark 6 to 8)

 

Where and when:

  •  From October 20, 2018 to March 23, 2019:
    • Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Wednesdays from 6:30 pm tp 9:30 pm, enhanced with online activities 
  • Mohawk College, Fennell Campus (135 Fennell Ave W, Hamilton, ON L9C E05)

Child and Youth Care Course

OSLT for Child and Youth Care Practitioners will help you to:

  • Increase your confidence in using English when interacting with colleagues, clients, supervisors and the public in a variety of settings: nursery schools, centre and home-based daycares, elementary schools, high schools
  • Improve your job interviewing and networking skills
  • Connect with local employers, agencies and employment resources
  • Understand human services workplaces in Ontario, including child-care centres and schools

 

This part-time course is for you if:

  • You have education/training or work experience in early childhood education or child and youth care
  • You are a permanent resident of Canada or a protected person
  • You have English at an intermediate level (Canadian Language Benchmark 6 to 8)

 

Where and when:

  • Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm enhanced with online activities 
  • Mohawk College, Fennell Campus (135 Fennell Ave W, Hamilton, ON L9C E05)
