Mohawk College and the Mohawk Students’ Association (MSA) offer many services, events and activities to enhance your student experience that are funded through optional ancillary fees. Domestic and international students may choose which non-essential fees they want to pay for.

Alumni Lifetime Membership

Fee Description »

This one-time fee provides, upon graduation, your lifetime membership to the Mohawk College Alumni Association. It’s the perfect way to stay connected with your classmates and the entire Mohawk community. Your photo alumni ID card will provide access to exclusive savings and discounts on food, retail, entertainment, travel and more. You will also receive the In Touch Alumni e-newsletter and magazine featuring captivating alumni stories, Mohawk news and upcoming alumni events.

Alumni Souvenir

Fee Description »

With this one-time fee you will receive a special graduation souvenir in celebration of completing your studies and becoming a future ready Mohawk alumni. This Mohawk branded keepsake will be a lifelong reminder of your outstanding achievements.

Black History Month

Fee Description »

Held annually in February, Social Inc. hosts events and activities throughout the entire month to honour the legacy of Black Canadians, past and present. This fee goes towards running these awareness events and activities at all campuses. Past events include speaking engagements by Trey Anthony and Laverne Cox.

Campus Sustainability Improvements

Fee Description »

This fee is applied towards the Sustainability Initiatives Fund (SIF), which supports the implementation of student ideas to improve campus sustainability. Winning ideas are provided the funding to be implemented on campus. The SIF also provides experiential learning opportunities in sustainability, microgrants, approved funding for a student’s personal sustainability project, and/or off-campus educational opportunities.

Community Garden

Fee Description »

This fee is charged and then distributed to the Sustainability Office to be applied towards the operation of the Community Garden. Garden plots, soil, tools and a sustainable rainwater harvesting system are made available to students to develop skills and expertise to grow their own fruits and vegetables.

Day of Pink

Fee Description »

Held annually in April, Social Inc. hosts Mohawk’s annual International Day of Pink. Show your support and take a stand against bullying, discrimination, homophobia, transphobia and transmisogyny. This fee goes towards events and activities at all campuses in support of equity awareness.

Farm Stand

Fee Description »

This fee is charged and then distributed to the Sustainability Initiatives Fund to manage the Farm Stand. In operation from July to November, the Farm Stand has fresh, local produce, baked goods and community-supported agriculture (CSA) bags available for purchase at affordable rates.

Greening Orientation

Fee Description »

This fee is charged to support Day One Orientation activities including the water refill station, transportation zone, the Farm Stand and waste and recycling programs. This fee helps ensure that every Mohawk student has the ability to access sustainability programs and services from Day One.

International Education Week

Fee Description »

Held annually in November at all campuses, International Education Week (IEW) showcases the contribution that international education makes to social, economic and cultural well-being. At Mohawk, IEW events and activities are organized to celebrate international culture and the diverse group of students who attend the college.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Fee Description »

Held annually in December, International Day of Persons with Disabilities aims to raise awareness and promote understanding of disability issues, as well as show support and respect for the well-being and rights of persons with disabilities. This fee is used to run awareness events and activities at all campuses.

International Women's History Month

Fee Description »

Held annually in March, on-campus events and activities are organized at all campuses to recognize women's achievements and acknowledge the challenges women continue to face in achieving gender equality. Past events include guest speaker engagements and panel discussions.

Mohawk Students’ Association (MSA)

Fee Description »

This fee is charged to fund the governance of the Mohawk Students’ Association (MSA), which is led by a group of elected students. The MSA is your voice on campus and exists to advocate in the best interest of all students.

The MSA plays a significant role in improving the student experience, while helping students navigate college processes, organize student campaigns and provides leadership opportunities.

Orange Shirt Day

Fee Description »

Held annually in September, Orange Shirt Day promotes awareness of the residential school system and opens the door to conversations on its effects and legacy. This fee creates funds that are distributed to Indigenous Education & Student Services to run awareness events and activities at all campuses. Past events include speaking engagements by residential school survivors, giveaways, and college-wide photo opportunities to promote awareness.

Pride at Mohawk

Fee Description »

This fee is used to support college-wide initiatives focused on increasing visibility and awareness of LGBTQ2S+ students and issues through Pride events and activities.

Student Clubs (MSA)

Fee Description »

This fee supports student clubs and groups on campus. This includes a dedicated club space, funding for club activities and student employment opportunities.

Student Events and Activities (MSA)

Fee Description »

This fee is charged to support student-focused events and activities at all campuses, while providing student employment opportunities. Events and activities include Orientation and frosh week events, live music, access to local off-campus events, common hour activities and more.

Student Food Bank (MSA)

Fee Description »

This fee is charged to fund the MSA Food Bank, a service for students in emergency need of food. The fees collected allow this vital student initiative to be offered free-of-charge to all students.
