Weaving together our knowledge and gifts
We are so excited that you will be attending Mohawk College this September. To help support and assist FNMI (First Nation, Metis and Inuit) students with the transition to virtual learning we have created an online series called the Virtual Learning Basket. This experience will give you resources to help address your physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and relational needs this semester, and beyond.
The Virtual Learning Basket offers:
- Knowledge from peers, alumni, Elders, Knowledge Keepers and educators
- Short videos grounded in the four aspects of being, interwoven through relationships
- Practical tips and strategies to succeed in your virtual learning environment
- Opportunities to practice advocacy skills and self-care during your educational journey
Sessions include:
- Physical: create a physically comfortable, safe and productive virtual/remote study environment
- Mental: list strategies, tools, and resources to successfully learn virtually/remotely
- Emotional: cope with and embrace the unfamiliar expectations of remote/virtual learning
- Spiritual: identify and use your gifts to successfully adapt to virtual/remote learning
Upon completion of the Virtual Learning Basket you will be provided with gifts of:
- USB flash drive
- Earphones with microphone
- Reusable cup
- Cotton reusable bag
- Wisdom Cards featuring words of encouragement from community members
- Gift card to Best Buy or Ikea
Additional resources available, if required:
