eduroam (education roaming) allows staff and students to access wireless services at any participating institution by logging in with their home institution credentials.  All Mohawk College faculty, staff, and students can use the eduroam network at all educational institutes that support eduroam

The easiest and most secure method of connecting to eduroam is to use the eduroam installer.

What is eduroam?

eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.

Having started in Europe, eduroam has gained momentum throughout the research and education community and is now available in over 100 territories.

eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop

Set-up Guides

The eduroam wireless network at Mohawk College supports WPA2 with AES encryption. A compatible wireless card with up-to-date drivers and patches for your operating system may be required.

All device connections use your MohawkID as the username in the format of MohawkID [at] mohawkcollege.ca (MohawkID[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca) (example: 000101060 [at] mohawkcollege.ca (000101060[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)

eduroam Installer

The easiest and most secure method of connecting to eduroam is to use the eduroam installer:

Mohawk EduRoam QR code

  1. Scan the QR code to the right or navigate to: eduroam 
  2. Click: Download your eduroam installer
    1. If it’s not showing the correct Operating System Click:  ***Select another installer to download Open the Downloaded file
  3. Click: Run
  4. Follow the prompts.
  5. Make sure you log in with your MohawkID [at] mohawkcollege.ca (MohawkID[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca) 

Windows 10

*** Using the eduroam installer above is the preferred method ***

  1. Click on the Networks Icon down by time along the start bar
  2. Select eduroam wireless network connection
  3. Click Connect
  4. when Prompted for credentials enter:
    • Username: Your MohawkID [at] mohawkcollege.ca (MohawkID[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)  (ex:  000101060 [at] mohawkcollege.ca (000101060[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca))
    • Password: Your MohawkID password
    • Click OK
  5. Click Connect to accept the mohawkwifi.mohawkcollege.ca security certificate
  6. You are now connected to the eduroam wireless network

Windows 7

*** Using the eduroam installer above is the preferred method ***

  1. Click on the Networks Icon down by time along the start bar
  2. Select eduroam wireless network connection
  3. Click Connect
  4. when Prompted for credentials enter:
    • Username: Your MohawkID [at] mohawkcollege.ca (MohawkID[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)  (ex:  000101060 [at] mohawkcollege.ca (000101060[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca))
    • Password: Your MohawkID password
    • Click OK
  5. Click Connect to accept the Windows Security Alert security certificate
  6. You are now connected to the eduroam wireless network

MacOS

*** Using the eduroam installer above is the preferred method ***

  1. Open your System Preferences Application
  2. Select Network
  3. Select your Wi-Fi adapter on the left
  4. Beside Network Name: Select the eduroam network from the drop down list
    • when Prompted for credentials enter:
    • Username: Your MohawkID [at] mohawkcollege.ca (MohawkID[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)  (ex:  000101060 [at] mohawkcollege.ca (000101060[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca))
    • Password: Your MohawkID password
    • Click Join
  5. Click Continue to accept the mohawkwifi.mohawkcollege.ca security certificate
  6. You may be prompted to enter your MacOS password to store the certificate
  7. You are now connected to the eduroam wireless network

iOS

*** Using the eduroam installer above is the preferred method ***

  1. Open your Settings App
  2. Select Wi-Fi
  3. Select the eduroam network
    • Username: Your MohawkID [at] mohawkcollege.ca (MohawkID[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)  (ex:  000101060 [at] mohawkcollege.ca (000101060[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca))
    • Password: Your MohawkID password
    • Click Join
  4. Click Trust to accept the mohawkwifi.mohawkcollege.ca security certificate
  5. You are now connected to the eduroam wireless network

Android

*** Using the eduroam installer above is the preferred method ***

**** Settings may varies depending on the make and model of your device ****

  1. Open your Settings App
  2. Select Connections
  3. Select Wi-Fi
  4. Select the eduroam network under available networks
    • CA Certificate:  Don't Validate
    • Identity: Your MohawkID [at] mohawkcollege.ca (MohawkID[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)  (ex: 000101060 [at] mohawkcollege.ca (000101060[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca))
    • Password: Your MohawkID password
    • Click Connect
  5. Click Trust to accept the mohawkwifi.mohawkcollege.ca security certificate
  6. You are now connected to the eduroam wireless network

Technical support for eduroam will be provided by your home institution. Visitors to Mohawk College should contact their home institution's IT department for support.
