Your Journey to Mohawk - One Step at a Time
With start dates throughout the year, you can use this graphic to plan everything from application to arrival at Mohawk College:
Step 1: Start early
Start early
Programs can fill fast. For international students we recommend beginning the process 9 months or more before program start date.
Step 2: Research our programs
Research our programs
Find the program you’d like to study.
Step 3: Contact a Mohawk College Recruiter
Contact a Mohawk College recruiter at intl.representatives [at] mohawkcollege.ca
Step 4: Learn about life in Canada
Learn more about Mohawk College and life in Canada.
Step 5: Submit your application
Submit your application with application fee* payment and all requested documentation. (*Additional fees may be required.)
Step 6: Receive response from Mohawk within 4 weeks
Once we have begun processing applications, you should hear back about acceptance within 4 weeks via a Letter of Acceptance.
Step 7: Are you accepted?
Once you hear back from us, there are three possible responses you will receive:
a) Accepted. Congratulations, you are in - Jump to step number 8 below!
b) Accepted with conditions. You will be accepted in to your program if you are able to meet all conditions AND if there is still room in the program when we receive proof conditions have been met.
c) Program full. If there is no room left in the program you have selected, you may be able to switch to another program or defer to a later program start date. Discuss options with your intl.representatives [at] mohawkcollege.ca (Mohawk Recruiter).
Step 8: Review your Letter of Acceptance
Review your Letter of Acceptance then confirm your intention to attend Mohawk and pay remaining fees.
Step 9: Apply for your Study Permit
Apply for your Study Permit as soon as you have received your Letter of Acceptance!
Step 10: Book flights
Prepare for your trip to Canada. Book your flights so that you arrive at least 7 days before your first day of classes.
Step 11: Check housing options
Check housing options and secure a place to live. (You must have housing organized before you arrive.)
Step 12: Pack your bags!
Review Mohawk’s packing checklist. Try not to over pack. Pack your bags!
Step 13: Begin you journey!

Step 14: Arrive at Pearson Airport
When you arrive at Pearson Airport, you will meet with customs officials who will give you your official Study Permit. Mohawk volunteers wearing bright orange shirts will be at Pearson Aug. 1 to Sept 8, to answer questions and support you in finding transportation to Hamilton.
Step 15: Obtain ground transportation to Hamilton
Ground transportation from Pearson Airport to Hamilton is 1 hour: taxi, limo, Go Bus, Airways Transit, Uber or Lyft!
Step 16: Visit International Square at Mohawk College
Be sure to come see us at International Square Room J137, Fennell Campus, to check in and register.
Step 17: Register and attend orientation
Enjoy a few days of registration and orientation – we will have plenty to keep you busy.
Step 18: Classes begin!
Classes begin. Good luck in your first term!
