How to book an appointment

Step 1

Step 1: Go to the Peer Tutor website 
Click "Register for an account" if this is your first time logging in. Read the LSC policies and, if you agree, enter your name, Mohawk email address, and click the "Submit" button. In the next screen that appears, enter your personal information into the form to create your Mohawk College LSC WC Online tutoring account.

If you already have an account, click "Log in to your existing account". Enter your login details to enter your account.

Step 2

Step 2:  Select drop down and choose a Schedule by either:

  • Course
  • Math
  • Writing
  • ESL
  • Study Skills

Step 2:  Select your course

Select by course code from the second drop down menu.

Step 4
Step 4: Write what you need help with

  1. Click an available white box.
  2. Type in what you need help with.
  3. Then click “Save Appointment”.
  • Your appointment will appear in yellow on the calendar.
  • You will receive a confirmation e-mail with the details of your appointment.

Tutors will NOT do your homework or eLearn quizzes for you

  • Other necessary materials

Come prepared! Peer Tutoring is not a replacement for missing class!

Peer Tutoring Frequently Asked Questions

Peer Tutors provide support primarily for first year subjects for students in 2-3-year diploma programs.

What if my tutor does not have any openings?

What if my course is not listed on the online booking site?

  • Every attempt will be made to match you with a tutor but we cannot guarantee a tutor for every course offered at the college.

How many hours of FREE one-to-one Peer Tutoring can I access?

  • 4 hours per week for Course Peer Tutoring
  • 1 hour per week for Study Skills Tutoring
  • 5 hours per week (maximum of 1 hour per day) for Writing & Communication and Math Support
  • 2 hour per week for ESL one-to-one support

How far in advance can I book an appointment?

  • Course Peer Tutoring: 2 - 7 days in advance
  • Writing, Math and ESL: Can book up to 10 minutes beforehand

Where do I meet my peer tutor?

  • At this time, all tutoring must take place online.
  • When it is about 5 minutes before the start of your appointment, log on to your WC Online account and click on the appointment. A pop-up window will appear. Click on the text that says, "START OR JOIN ONLINE CONSULTATION".
  • If you have any issues, please email LSC [at] or call 905-575-1212 ext. 3279 and we will try our best to help you as soon as possible. With any technical issues, please have patience as they are often out of our control.

Who will be my peer tutor?

  • An upper semester student in your program

 How do I cancel an appointment?

  • Cancel up to 3 hours before your appointment by clicking on your appointment in yellow, scrolling down, and selecting “Cancel Appointment”
  • To cancel after the 3-hour mark, please contact us:

  • Two late cancellations may result in suspension of booking ability until you speak to an LSC staff member

 What happens if I miss an appointment?

  • Log on to your appointment 5 minutes before, if you can
  • You must show up within 15 minutes of your start time or it will be marked as a no-show
  • Two no-shows will result in suspension of your account until you speak with an LSC staff member
  • Missing any future appointments may result in suspension of booking ability for the remainder of the semester

What happens if my tutor has to miss my appointment?

  • Every effort will be made to notify you by email – check your Mohawk email daily! 
  • Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee another tutor will be available for their time slot
  • We do our best to post cancellations for drop-in/group tutoring on our front window
