Youth Programs

The Community Access and Engagement team loves to mix fun and learning for young people in Hamilton through after school programming.

The 196

In partnership with Mission Services, funded through the Hamilton Community Foundation's ABACUS grant, this after school drop-in program makes weekly visits to Mohawk College's Fennell campus for homework help and athletics mentorship.

LEGO Robotics

Delivered in partnership with the Eva Rothwell Centre and funded through the Hamilton Community Foundation's ABACUS grant, kids at Eva Rothwell built their own LEGO robots to perform different tasks and compete in a race! Visits to Fennell campus included tours of the Engineering Technology labs.

Team Building Through the Trades 

Delivered in partnership with the Eva Rothwell Centre and funded through the Hamilton Community Foundation's ABACUS grant, kids at Eva Rothwell made weekly visits to different trades and technology labs at both the Stoney Creek and Fennell campuses of Mohawk College to participate in programming related to automotive technology, carpentry, and aviation technology among other skilled trades. 

After School Arts Program

Delivered in partnership with Culture for Kids in the Arts and the Eva Rothwell Centre, the After School Arts Program returns to Eva Rothwell for youth ages 11 to 14! Join in arts programming that includes visual arts, drama, music and dance, make two trips to learn about Mohawk College Arts programs, and wrap up the 16 week session with a final performance to showcase your skills!

City School Sprouts

Delivered in partnership with Mohawk Sustainability & the Eva Rothwell Centre, Kids from Eva Rothwell and Kiwanis Boys & Girls club were growing seedlings and learning about sustainability, healthy eating, urban farming and entrepreneurship!

The kids sold their seedlings at the Mustardseed Coop Seedling Sale and at Mohawk College's Seedling Sale in May 2016. The Sprouts were able to raise over $500 to help support future programming at the Eva Rothwell Centre!

City School Activity Book!

The first year Integrated Animation students at Mohawk College created an amazing activity book to share with kids in the Keith neighbourhood around the Eva Rothwell Centre - the location of the first City School by Mohawk.
