Learning Outcomes

Program Learning Outcomes, often referred to as ‘Program Standards', set out the essential learning that a student must achieve before being deemed ready to graduate.

In many cases these program learning outcomes were developed by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) in consultation with employers and educators who are experts in the program field. To ensure the outcomes remain current and in line with industry needs, we invite our employers, graduates working in the field and current students to re-examine and update them during regular, ongoing program review focus groups.

Lev Nager

From my first visit to Mohawk College until now, it was a warm and friendly atmosphere. I started my ESL courses at Mohawk College in March 2018, and I have to say those courses gave me many useful skills. All the aspects in Mohawk College are well-organized, and it makes it easy to receive help and advisement in educational and everyday needs and questions.

Juliano Viudes Moraes

When I arrived in Canada, I was surprised by the barriers of the language. I didn't imagine that people spoke so fast and that it would be very difficult to understand and interact with others. However, when I started to study in EAP, I began to interact with other students from different nationalities, teachers and other staff. The EAP program prepared me for my post-secondary program of Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physical Therapy Assistant as I learned how to write formal, argumentative and persuasive essays and assignments, improved my reading strategies and critical thinking, practiced listening and note-taking techniques, and learned oral presentation skills. I felt more confident during and after each course and I am grateful for having excellent professors and multicultural friends. So, I strongly recommend you to come to Hamilton and study at Mohawk College’s EAP program. It will improve your communication skills, provide you multicultural friendships and also prepare you to be successful in other post-secondary programs.
