Peer Assisted Study Sessions (P.A.S.S.)

What is P.A.S.S.?

P.A.S.S. stands for Peer Assisted Study Sessions. It is a student success initiative at Mohawk College that focuses on helping first semester students in historically difficult courses, such as Business Math and Engineering Math. P.A.S.S. Leaders, students who have previous taken the course, facilitate weekly study sessions. All P.A.S.S.sessions are scheduled around enrolled students’ timetables to ensure maximum availability and support.

The PASS Program is FREE and ANONYMOUS!

Why Attend?

  • Earn better grades
  • Better understand concepts/course material

  • Develop effective study skills that can be applied to other classes

What can I expect in a P.A.S.S. session?

P.A.S.S leaders facilitate regularly scheduled study sessions that occur outside of class time. P.A.S.S Leaders guide students through processes of reviewing, practicing, and applying course content in differentiated formats. All students who are enrolled in the targeted course are welcome to join P.A.S.S. sessions throughout the semester.

The PASS Program supports the following targeted courses:

  • MATH MA 101
  • MATH MA 10067
  • MATH MA 179
  • MATH MS 171
  • MATH MA 10037

What is a P.A.S.S Leader?

P.A.S.S. Leaders are upper semester students who have previously completed the targeted course. P.A.S.S. Leaders are assigned a targeted course, they attend the lectures, and then they facilitate two 1-hour study sessions per week called P.A.S.S. sessions. They help students better understand concepts or applications of course content.
