Additional information regarding CSEP:

  • CSEP students are not eligible for staff discounts. i.e. Continuing Education courses.
  • Contract dates are indicated on the Confirmation of Hire form and are generally 12-14 weeks in length per semester.  Communication regarding contract length should be directed to your supervisor. Contracts can be terminated at any time at the discretion of the hiring manager.
  • International students are eligible to apply for student positions and do not need to complete a Financial Assistance Profile application. 
  • All positions are paid the minimum wage per hour for the Fall, Winter and Summer semesters, plus 4% vacation pay.  Contract dates are indicated on the Confirmation of Hire Form and can be terminated at any time at the discretion of the administrative supervisor. Students are not paid for sick days.
  • Students will be paid for holidays that fall on days that the student is regularly scheduled to work, while on contract. The holidays include Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, and Thanksgiving. The holidays paid will depend on the contract duration and the regularly scheduled hours for the day.

Speak to your supervisor about:

  • Safety rules that must be observed
  • Absence and tardiness policy (how to report or request time off)
  • How to record time worked (especially if pay has been missed)
  • Lunch period and breaks
  • Overtime policy
  • Dress code and personal appearance
  • Information about keeping employer's and customers' sensitive information confidential

Timesheets and Pay Schedule

All students must submit their hours worked through the MyMohawk portal for their pay to be processed on time.

Submitting Hours through the MyMohawk Portal:

  • Login to MyMohawk
  • Click on the ‘Employees’ tab
  • Click the ‘Timesheets (Submit/Approve)’ link in the right side column
  • Check off ‘Access my Time Sheet’ and click ‘Select’ button
  • Click the appropriate ‘My Choice’ checkbox
  • Select the current work period from the drop down menu
  • Click the ‘Time Sheet’ link
  • Enter hours on a specific day and submit for approval on the Friday of the pay period (pay day)
  • Remember to hit ‘Next’ in order to capture hours worked for the two week pay period
  • On the Monday after you submit your hours, check to ensure your supervisor has approved your hours
