Senior Development Specialist – Major Gifts

After completing a Bachelor of Physical Education degree at McMaster University in 1980, John spent eight years with the YMCA of Greater Toronto. He then worked for three United Ways within the GTHA (Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area) for the next eight years where he developed his passion for fundraising.

Prior to joining Mohawk, John spent 29 years in the Office of University Advancement at McMaster University, most recently as a Principal Giving Officer. During his time at McMaster, John was responsible for a variety of portfolios serving in two university-wide, comprehensive campaigns, and four capital campaigns. John’s fundraising success at McMaster University included support for university research and teaching, as well as student awards and experiential learning.

John has acquired a wealth of experience in all aspects of personal and organizational fundraising, participating in a significant number of professional development conferences offered by CCAE (Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education), CCAE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education), and CAGP (Canadian Association of Gift Planners).

He is passionate about the importance of post-secondary education and is a proud Hamiltonian.
