Classes available for eligible newcomers with benchmarks 1 to 4 (Canadian Language Benchmark assessment)

Flexible schedule
- Full-time and part-time options
- Daytime in-person and blended classes; evening online classes.
- Classes available:
- LINC Youth (blended classes) for students ages 18-25, literacy/CLB 1 to CLB 4
- CLB 3 and 4 classes for all ages (full-time)
- Evening online CLB 4 classes
- Saturday in-person CLB 2, 3, and 4 classes
- LINC class in Caledonia (in-person class) for newcomers living in Haldimand County
Note: the in-person and blended programs are delivered at Mohawk College, Fennell Campus (135 Fennell Avenue West, Hamilton, ON L9C 0E5)
Eligible individuals must:
- Be a permanent resident of Canada, a protected person (with Notice of Decision), or a temporary resident affected by the crisis in Gaza (showing “MOME2023” in status documentation until March 31, 2027), and
- Be 18 years of age or older, and
- Live in Ontario, (priority is given to eligible newcomers living in the Hamilton area) and
- Have valid proof of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) assessment at the required level of the class of your interest

- The assessment has no cost for permanent residents and protected persons.
Note: Unfortunately, effective April 1, 2026, economic class immigrants are eligible for LINC for only 6 years after becoming permanent residents. Effective April 2027, this will be reduced to 5 years. (Economic class immigrants include people who arrived through Express Entry, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), work-related programs (such as the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, caregiver programs, investor or business programs, regional employment programs, etc.) or other similar programs or pilots.)

Technology required
Students in blended on online classes need to have access to the following:
- A high-speed internet connection.
- A computer or laptop with a camera, microphone, and sound.
- A comfortable place where you can interact with your classmates and teachers. This will help you to learn better and faster!
