Adult Dual Credits in Hamilton

Starting in the 2017-2018 school year, and in coordination with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB), Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB), Halton District School Board (HDSB), and Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB), Mohawk College is pleased to provide the Adult Dual Credit Program.  This program allows adults who are completing their secondary school diplomas to gain an extra boost by earning a Mohawk College credit while finishing their OSSDs!  

You may be eligible for Adult Dual Credits if you are:

  • 21 years of age or older; 
  • Currently earning your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) through HWDSB, HWCDSB, HDSB, or HCDSB; and
  • Close to completing your OSSD.

Adult Dual Credits - Communications

Students earn a Mohawk College credit while they earn their compulsory Grade 12 English credit!

Dates: March 2019 to June 2019
Status: Registration opens April 2018

Open ONLY to students who have not yet earned their compulsory Grade 12 English credit


College Credit 1: Communication D (COMM11040)

Course Description: Communication is an introductory college level English course. Through a variety of assignments, successful students in this course will develop the reading, writing, critical and analytical skills essential to them as communicators in college and upon graduation. This course teaches writing through the critical reading of various fiction and non-fiction material and brings students with basic skills to college level foundational skills.

College Pathways: Satisfies the Communications course requirement in most Mohawk programs

Career Pathways*: Supports success in college, leading to a wide variety of careers
