Sheila David: Nursing-Class of 74

Sheila David is a 1974 graduate of the Mohawk College Nursing Program (Hamilton Civic Campus). She has continued her education obtaining a Bachelor of Administrative Studies from York University in 1989. In 1992, she achieved the designation of Certified Health Executive with the Canadian Council of Health Service Executives in Ottawa. 

David has acquired an extensive nursing background as a staff nurse, working in psychiatry, neonatal intensive care, obstetrics and pediatrics. She has also worked as a Head Nurse, as a Hospital Coordinator of Clinical Education and as a Sales Representative for a medical equipment company. Currently, she is Executive Director of the Durham Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses. 

Professionally, David has been an active member of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), and served as President of the Association in 1991-92. David has also been very active in the community. She is a former Board of Management Member of the Allergy Information Association. She is a member of the Ontario Breast Screening Coalition, is an A.S.P.O. Certified Childbirth Educator and is an Instructor in Lamaze childbirth classes. She is also a member of the Advisory Committee for Health Sciences at Durham College, and the Property and Planning Committee at Whitby General Hospital. 

In 1992, David was selected to join the Rotary Club of Oshawa, and made the “Alumni Address” at the 1993 Mohawk College Spring Convocation.
