Albert Duwyn
Director of Growth Initiatives, IRC Building Sciences Group
Albert Duwyn is a successful entrepreneur and leader in the construction industry.
For nearly 30 years, Albert was the owner of IRC Building Sciences Group. He bought what was a start-up roof consulting company with only four employees in 1992 and grew it into a leading consulting and engineering firm with 16 offices across Canada. The company specializes in building performance solutions in the commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors, and is recognized for embracing sustainability.
Albert is a Registered Roof Consultant and was the first Canadian to become president of the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) professional association. He was also a founding member of IIBEC Canada as well as founder of the IIBEC Foundation in Canada and the United States, dedicated to the research, education, and dissemination of information important to the building envelope industry.
Albert has supported charitable initiatives in IRC’s local communities across Canada, including raising more than $1.1 million since 2005 for CityKidz and Food4Kids in Hamilton with each dollar fundraised through their annual golf tournament matched by the company.
Having grown up on a tobacco farm in southwestern Ontario, Albert was an early supporter and shareholder in cannabis company Lotus Ventures Inc. and currently serves on its board of directors.
