Jason DeBoer is a successful accountant who is dedicated to applying his professional expertise to charitable endeavours locally and internationally.

A graduate of the Business Administration program in 1992, Jason has more than 30 years of experience in public accounting and private business and today works as an audit and accounting partner in the Hamilton office of KPMG Private Enterprise.

Holding a chartered accountant accreditation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, he was named a fellow by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario in 2021—the highest distinction bestowed upon a CPA in the accounting profession.

Since joining KPMG in 2000, Jason has climbed the ranks from manager to senior manager and eventually to his current partner role in 2011, mentoring other managers and staff along the way. Over the past 10 years, the books of business and his team members have doubled in size under his leadership.

DeBoer is involved in strategic KPMG national committees to grow the practice in Hamilton and across Canada. Most recently, he joined an operational risk management committee representing 18 Eastern Canada offices (excluding Toronto and Quebec) to streamline the risk management process.

He was also a member of KPMG’s Project AVA, a cross-functional digital transformation initiative to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness through workflow automation, integration of cross-functional platforms, and automation of data extraction from clients. DeBoer was one of six individuals appointed to the national steering committee and represents the 18 offices in the Eastern Canada practice team.

Jason regularly volunteers to speak to accounting students to share the merits of the CPA profession, including past accounting classes at Mohawk College.

DeBoer has earned advanced certificates in advising the family business and family business governance.

Prior to KPMG, Jason worked for various companies including Saferunnin’ Inc., Old Republic Insurance Group Canada and Coopers & Lybrand.

He volunteers in his community and serves as an Ancaster Christian Reformed Church planning committee member. He also served as audit chair and treasurer of World Renew Canada, treasurer of Wellingstone Christian Homes and Heritage Christian Homes and chair of Wellingstone Campus of Care

Jason has also served as a cadet counsellor with the Calvinist Cadet Corps, an advisor for Junior Achievement Burlington and Great Lakes League Young People’s and Ancaster Christian Reformed Church Young People’s treasurer.

He was a recipient of the Service Above Self award from the Rotary Club of Ancaster A.M. in 2017 and was a platinum winner for favourite accountant in the Hamilton Spectator Readers’ Choice Awards in 2012.
