Executive Producer, Amazing Ain’t It Productions

Kim Saltarski is an accomplished director, writer and producer who has brought more than 400 hours of original television programming to life.

A 1982 Broadcasting – Television and Communications Media program graduate, Kim founded his own production company, Amazing Ain’t It Productions, in 1987.

Kim’s work has been seen on Netflix, Amazon, Nickelodeon, CTV, The Comedy Network, YTV, CBC, TVO, Disney Channel, Global, Discovery Channel, BBC Kids, Cartoon Network, and The Family Channel.

In recent years, he has turned his talents to help people share their stories to educate and inspire others, including disability advocate Andre Arruda, who is featured in Andre the Anti-Giant; a group of individuals looking for dignity and healing through medical cannabis in Mend with Dignity; veterans facing the most intense fight of theirs lives against PTSD in About Turn; and therapist/social ecologist Mark Skelding’s personal exploration of how eco-anxiety could be one of the most important evolutionary drivers of our times in Reimagining Humanity.

His most recent project is as co-creator and producer of an original kids factual series Burps, Butts and Bones, which Sphere Media commissioned in mid-February and greenlit for broadcast by TVOKids. TVO ordered 26, 11-minute episodes of the hybrid live-action/animation series about the weird and wonderful human body, which is aimed at six- to nine-year-olds.

Kim has a long and diverse list of creative credits to his name. A few highlights include:

  • His documentary short, Andre The Anti-Giant won the award for best documentary shattering stereotypes at the 9th International Disability Film Festival and is available on Bravo Canada’s online portal. It is the compelling story of three-foot something actor, comedian, and disability advocate Andre H. Arruda and his efforts to retake the stage following a life-endangering diagnosis.
  • About Turn: Veterans Transforming Trauma is expected to be released in the late fall of 2025. It tells the story of Fabian Henry, who battled post-traumatic stress after serving 12 years as a combat engineer in the Canadian military, including tours in Afghanistan.
  • Kim produced and directed a six-episode docu-adventure reality series called Operation Unplugged for travel+escape channel. He also produced Canada’s Worst Driver 2 for Discovery Channel.
  • He’s also written 15 episodes and directed seven episodes of the first season of the live-action kids series Leo’s FishHeads for TVO Kids, which explores the aquatic wonders of Canada.

He’s travelled the world to shoot appeals for not-for-profits Children International & Plan Canada that have touched the hearts of millions across North America. He shot and edited two mini-docs in Tanzania for Right To Play and the LEGO Foundation. He also directed and edited commercials for the Heart and Stroke Association of Canada and a web series called The Exceptional Life for Autism Ontario.

Kim is also a busy voiceover artist and songwriter/musician. In 2014, Kim was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma skin cancer. He turned to plant-based medicine, eliminated meat and sugar from his diet, exercised more, and began acupuncture. He also began taking full extract cannabis oil, following the protocol of a cannabis advocate in Nova Scotia. He credits cannabis oil for helping to heal him and went on to produce two documentaries and a Youtube series about people from all walks of life who use cannabis to treat cancer, COPD, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, insomnia, and chronic pain.

On the comedy side, he served as executive producer/showrunner on Popcultured with Elvira Kurt for The Comedy Network, produced Out Of Bounds with John Oakley for Global and also produced four Cream of Comedy TV specials for The Comedy Network.

He created, wrote and produced YTV’s The Breakfast Zone, North America’s first live national morning show for kids and wrote all three seasons of the hit animation comedy series League of Super Evil seen on Cartoon Network US, YTV and BBC Kids.

He returned to his alma mater to teach a course on directing on-air performances and developed three courses for Mohawk’s multimedia storytelling graduate certificate program.

His community service includes work with My Place, a revolving loan fund created by the First Unitarian Congregation of Toronto to provide at-risk, homeless youth with funds for last month's rent. The youth have one year to pay back an interest-free loan.
