Here are some answers to commonly asked questions. 

What is CSEP?

The Campus Student Employment Program (CSEP) connects Mohawk College students with meaningful, paid on-campus job opportunities. It is designed to help students gain real-world experience, build valuable skills, and support their education while studying. Through CSEP, students can grow their careers and stay connected to the campus community.

What is the eligibility to work in CSEP?

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be registered in a full-time post-secondary program or in a continuing education diploma or certificate program during the Fall 2026 AND Winter 2027 semester(s) and be able to work up to 15 hours/week. (Students registered in a co-op work term are not eligible. Students must be registered in an academic term for both fall and winter semesters)
  • Complete the CSEP Financial Assistance Profile and demonstrate financial need (Mandatory)
  • Be a domestic or international student
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN), and have a valid work permit (International only)

What is the rate of pay?

Minimum wage.

What positions are available?

A list of available positions will be posted online. Details about the individual positions can be found by logging into CareerReady and navigating to Job Postings on the CSEP Dashboard.

Positions will be posted at the end of August. Check back in August.

How do I access CareerReady?

Visit the CareerReady Portal and log in. If you are a part-time, full-time, or CE student, you can access CareerReady by selecting "Student" at the login screen and using your Mohawk ID and password (SSO). 

How do I apply for positions in CareerReady?

  1. Log in to the CareerReady Portal
  2. Click the arrow next to Campus Student Employment Program (CSEP) and select Documents
  3. Select Upload Documents to add your resume to CareerReady
  4. To view available positions, click the arrow next to Campus Student Employment Program (CSEP) and select Job Postings, then click the blue Search button
  5. Complete the CSEP Financial Assistance Profile (Mandatory)

For detailed instructions, navigate to the Quick Links section and select CSEP Resources. A PDF with step-by-step instructions is available to support students through the application process. 

I can't log into CareerReady. Who can help?

All registered students can access CareerReady. Follow the on-screen prompts to troubleshoot any log-in challenges.

  • If you have not selected your timetable, you will not be able to access CareerReady until approximately 24 hours after you have selected your timetable.
  • If you have recently selected your timetable, you won't be able to access CareerReady for approximately 24 hours after timetable selection. Please check back.

What documents do I need to submit with my application?

You need to upload your current Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV) in CareerReady. When uploading your resume, make sure the document is saved as PDF format. Documents should contain limited graphics for the best results.

Don't forget to complete your CSEP Financial Assistance Profile before the posted deadline.

How do I write a resume?

Not sure where to start? Explore our resume and cover letter resources on CareerConnect. Below are a few key things to consider:

  • Resume is 1 –2 pages
  • Education, Experiential Learning (Co-ops, Field Placements, Clinical Placements, etc.), projects, and part-time work included
  • Bullets show skills and outcomes
  • Resume tailored to each role
  • Cover letter customized per job
  • Proofread by another person

Can students have more than one CSEP contract?

No, students cannot have more than one CSEP contract per semester.

Do I have to apply for the CSEP Financial Assistance Profile to be eligible for CSEP?

Yes. CSEP positions are intended to support students who demonstrate financial need, and all applicants must complete a CSEP Financial Assistance Profile.

How does CSEP affect my OSAP?

Students must report all other taxable and non-taxable income sources expected during the study period (e.g., employment income).

Are Better Jobs Ontario (formerly Second Career) students eligible for CSEP?

No.

Are part-time students eligible for CSEP?

No, part-time students are not eligible. Students must maintain a 60% course load or more to remain eligible for CSEP.

If I am a full-time student and drop below 60% course load, am I still eligible for CSEP?

No, part-time students are not eligible. Students must maintain a 60% course load or more to remain eligible for CSEP.

I was not the successful candidate for a CSEP position this semester. Where else can I find a part-time job?
