Halton Dual Credits - HDSB

These Dual Credit courses are open to students of the Halton District School Board (HDSB) who are close to high school graduation.

Courses that are offered at specific high schools are only open to students who attend those high schools.

All registrations MUST be completed through your high school's Student Services or Guidance department. Contact your Student Services or Guidance department to see which option is best for you.

Below is a sample of the Dual Credits we have run in recent years.  Please contact your high school's Student Services of Guidance department to see which courses are currently available.

Fall Semester (September to January)

Trades and Technology - Motive Power

Location: Iroquois Ridge High SchoolCraig Kielburger Secondary School

College Credit 1: Internal Combustion Engines (MOTP10036)

Course Description: Examine components, design features and operating principles of the internal combustion engine. Perform disassembling and measuring of components following the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Career Pathways*: Parts Distribution, Automotive Mechanical Installers and Servicer, Motor Vehicle Assemblers, Inspectors and Tester Automotive Service Technician

College Credit 1: Sport and Exercise Psychology (PSYC10016)

Course Description: The mind-body connection is an integral part in achieving high levels of performance within sport and exercise. Examine major theoretical perspectives in Sport and Exercise Psychology research. Various psychological skills are discussed and applied to enhance athletes, clients, or personal performance.

Trades and Technology - Construction

Course Description: Get comfortable working with tools on plumbing, carpentry, and electrical projects. This course is great for people looking to build confidence working on home improvement or to discover a career in the skilled trades.

College Credit 1: FNMI Perspectives (INDS10030)

Course Description: Aboriginal & Western Perspectives is an introductory study of First Nations, Inuit and Metis focusing primarily on the Canadian context. Some of the social, economic and political topics include: past and recent history, effects of European arrival on native people and cultures, land claims and treaties, government policy towards First Nations peoples, self‐government and self‐determination and contemporary native issues.

Course Description: Explore the scientific study of mental processes and behaviour, including the concepts of normality and abnormality. Investigate the biological basis of human experience, sensation and perception, learning and memory, and the nature of consciousness. Examine personality theories, health and stress, and various psychological disorders, including their etiology and treatments.

College Credit 2: Introduction to Health & Wellness (HLTH10081)

Course Description: Explore the seven basic dimensions of wellness. The social, intellectual, emotional, occupational, environmental, spiritual and physical components allow for the development of a balanced approach to lifestyle choices. Lifestyle choices have a direct impact on an individual's short and long term health potential. Discuss methods of achieving one's potential in each of the interrelated
