Practical Nursing is an Ontario College Diploma program offered at Mohawk's Institute for Applied Health Sciences, located on the McMaster University campus in Hamilton, Ontario. The Practical Nursing program runs continuously for 16 calendar months over 4 semesters.
Practical Nursing with Aboriginal Communities, an Ontario College Diploma program, is offered every second year at Six Nations Polytechnic. PN offered twice a year, every year. Programs run consecutive semesters including spring/summer over 16 calendar months.
Students in the program will have the opportunity to experience collaborative learning, the learning methodology where students are responsible for their own learning and for contributing to the learning of their peers.
- Experience collaborative learning - the learning methodology used where you are responsible for your own learning and for contributing to the learning of your peers. Faculty members provide structure and act as facilitators through consultation, assisting with group collaborative activities and providing feedback.
Program Approval Status:
The Practical Nursing and Practical Nursing with Aboriginal Communities Program at Mohawk College is currently approved (Category 1) by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Current graduates from this program are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario.
360° Classroom Tour
After successful completion of the Practical Nursing diploma program, graduates are eligible to write the Canadian Registered Practical Nurse Examination (CRPNE) which is administered by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Clinical placements may occur at locations that are not accessible by public transit. As such, students shall be expected to either have access to a car or the ability to supply their own transportation when attending clinical placement activity. Mohawk shall not be responsible for providing students with transportation to clinical placements
- Students must be prepared to attend the assigned clinical experience that is provided in our catchment area that includes Hamilton, Brantford, Halton, Niagara, Norfolk and surrounding regions
Students are responsible for their own travel and costs to clinical placements.
