With a focus on community support and understanding, this program is delivered using collaborative learning

Practical Nursing is an Ontario College Diploma program offered at Mohawk's Institute for Applied Health Sciences, located on the McMaster University campus in Hamilton, Ontario. The Practical Nursing program runs continuously for 16 calendar months over 4 semesters.

Practical Nursing with Aboriginal Communities, an Ontario College Diploma program, is offered every second year at Six Nations Polytechnic. PN offered twice a year, every year. Programs run consecutive semesters including spring/summer over 16 calendar months.

Students in the program will have the opportunity to experience collaborative learning, the learning methodology where students are responsible for their own learning and for contributing to the learning of their peers.

Program Highlights

  • Experience collaborative learning - the learning methodology used where you are responsible for your own learning and for contributing to the learning of your peers. Faculty members provide structure and act as facilitators through consultation, assisting with group collaborative activities and providing feedback

Graduate Opportunities

After successful completion of the Practical Nursing diploma program, graduates are eligible to write the Canadian Registered Practical Nurse Examination (CRPNE) which is administered by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)

Clinical Placement

  • Practical Nursing and Practical Nursing with Aboriginal Communities, an Ontario College Diploma program, is offered every second year at Six Nations Polytechnic.
  • Clinical experience is provided in the health care agencies of throughout Ontario.
  • Students are responsible for their own travel and costs to clinical placements.
