James (Jim) Richards has been a Provincial Correctional Officer since 1989 working at the maximum security Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton.
Jim spent the last 20 years of his career as a tactical team member and the senior coach officer at Maplehurst. Throughout his career, he has held positions on the provincial bargaining team, the provincial employee relations committee, and spent the last 12 years teaching a human rights-based course at every jail in the province.
Jim developed the Correctional Foundations course for Mohawk College in 2018 and has taught numerous courses in the Community and Justice Services department since then.
Jim works closely with the Provincial Corrections recruiting unit assisting Mohawk students through the recruiting process. Jim is very proud to have worked with many Mohawk College CJS graduates at Maplehurst during the last few years.
