John Marinucci, Founder and Chair of Trustees, Marinucci Family Foundation, Distinguished Fellow

John Marinucci is the Founder and Chair of Trustees for the Marinucci Family Foundation, a registered charity focused on funding education, live arts and proactive healthcare initiatives.

John’s career achievements are impressive. He has held many executive and senior management positions with leading Canadian and U.S. based organizations, including serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of NFI Group and President and Chief Operating Officer for National Steel Car in Hamilton. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a Directors Education Program graduate. He is a past Chair of the CWB Welding Foundation Board of Directors and CWB Group Board of Directors. A Canadian Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), John was named a Fellow of Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA) Ontario in 2020. The fellowship is the highest honour CPAs can receive and was awarded to John in recognition of his exceptional service and contributions to the profession.

A long-time champion and supporter of Mohawk College, John served as a member and Chair of the Mohawk College Board of Governors from 2009 through 2015. Through the Marinucci Family Foundation, John generously committed $500,000 to the Joyce Centre for Partnership and Innovation with the Marinucci Foundation Gallery, named in his family’s honour. Another $250,000 donation was made in support of applied research at the college, and resulted in the naming of the Marinucci Family Foundation IDEAWORKS Lab

As a strong supporter of the skilled trades, the CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) Welding Foundation made a $25,000 donation that was matched by Mohawk College to create CWB John Marinucci Bursary. The creation of the bursary was a show of appreciation for John’s role as past Chair of the CWB Welding Foundation board and supports welding program students in financial need.
