Carla LaBella (M.A., CAPP) is a Professor of Psychology in the School of Liberal Studies at Mohawk College. She teaches a variety of psychology-related courses (including Introductory Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Positive Psychology and Human Sexuality) to various programs within the College and to the Collaborative Nursing (BScN) program at the IAHS campus, McMaster University. She is the co-facilitator and co-founder of the Happiness (Wellness) Series for students and staff, and offers a number of wellness sessions throughout the College. She is also active in her community, sitting as a board member for the Suicide Prevention Community Council of Hamilton (SPCCH) and the Hamilton Program for Schizophrenia (HPS). She was recently nominated for the YWCA Women of Distinction Award (2018). She obtained her Honours B.A. in Psychology from McMaster University (1997) and her Master's in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Waterloo (2000). More recently, she obtained a Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) at the Flourishing Center in New York (2014). Aside from being a teacher, she is a yoga-enthusiast, avid non-fiction reader, a mom to two active boys, and a partner to her husband.
Interesting fact about Carla: she is the multi-time winner of the shoe-toss competition at a local Italian Club!
