Ed Gies is the coordinator of the Advanced Police Studies Program , Ed retired as a Detective Constable from the Halton Regional Police Service after 23 years of policing. While with Halton Police he worked in several different areas which included: Uniform

Patrol, Street Crime, Regional Drugs, Major Crime (Homicide), and the Internet Child Exploitation Unit. During his tenure Ed was assigned to the Provincial R.O.P.E. Squad, C.F.S.E.U., and the Provincial I.C.E Unit. While in these and during his tenure with Halton Police Ed worked numerous undercover operations and was assigned to several Provincial Task Forces. Ed has extensive training in tactical entries, use of force and has trained with the U.S Marshals, FBI, OPP, RCMP and Halton Regional Police Service. While in Uniform Patrol Ed was a designated Range Officer, Scenes of Crime Officer and Coach Officer. While working in investigative units, Ed instructed several courses in relation to Drugs, Search & Seizure, Warrant Writing and Undercover Operations. Ed is married with two children and remains very active within the community.
