James is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Certified General Accountant. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Laurentian University. He attended Harvard Law School and received certification in the Negotiation and Leadership program. He also served as a member of the leadership committee and volunteer Treasurer of Autism Ontario’s Hamilton Chapter Leadership Council.
James has provided accounting and business management and consulting services for clients. He has provided these services in the restaurant, retail, legal, and transportation industries. He served as a Corporate Accountant for Prime Restaurants (East Side Mario’s, Casey’s, Bier Market). He worked side-by-side with restaurant managers and corporate executives. They built and revised processes and timely reporting initiatives. They worked to maximize the customer experience and drive efficiencies and profitability.
He also served as a Financial Corporate Controller for one of Canada’s leading fulfillment organizations. He developed reporting and process solutions for Amazon, Kellogg’s, Shell Canada, Michelin, and Kraft Foods. His work focused on technology solutions in customizing ERP and management information systems. As well as the development in-house training programs.
James began teaching at Mohawk College on a part-time basis in the fall of 2018. He became a full-time faculty member in 2019 in General Business.
