Karen McCall, M.Ed. is the owner of Karlen Communications. She provides consultation and training on accessible document design. She is an advocate for digital inclusion of people with disabilities and the creation of a global inclusive education standard based on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Karen has over 20 years’ experience in the field of accessible document design. She wrote the first comprehensive book on accessible and usable PDF documents (2005) which is now in its fourth edition. She wrote the first comprehensive book on creating accessible Word documents (2005) which has evolved into her latest book: “Styles in Word: A Primer for Accessible Document Design”. Karen has taught for several colleges and universities on digital accessibility and inclusion.
