Social Inc is hosting a Film Recommendation double feature to honour Journey to Freedom Day.
All Mohawk College students can access these films for free through YouTube.

"Exodus: A Vietnamese Refugee's Journey to Canada"
"My dad's journey includes being robbed by pirates, being stranded at sea for several days, and reuniting with his cousin. The story of the Vietnamese boat people is often forgotten in Canadian history. It isn't mentioned in any of the curriculum, yet Canada accepted over 100 000 refugees. Canadian citizens were also awarded with the Nansen medal by the United Nations for their outstanding service to refugees. It was the first and only time that the entire people of a country have been collectively honored with this award. I hope after viewing my film, people will have more empathy for refugees."

Join educator Liz Crocker and artist Chrystal Phan for a virtual walk in Victoria. We’ll look at sites that were significant to Chrystal's family and other Vietnamese Landed Immigrants as they arrived on Canada’s west coast in the fall of 1980 and began their journey to citizenship."
