Beyond Borders Awards Application

The Beyond Borders Awards application is available until October 23, 2026.

Students submitting this application will be considered for the Global Learning and the Global Experience Award.

These awards provide financial support to help cover travel, program fees, and living expenses for study abroad, exchanges, field studies, and other international opportunities.

These funds are designed to reduce financial barriers so you can focus on learning, exploring, and gaining valuable skills, not worrying about the cost. Don’t miss the chance to help fund your global learning experience.

Before You Apply

  • Ensure that your address is up-to-date in MyMohawk (opens new window) on the Home page under "Personal Information".
  • Confirm your SIN through MyMohawk (opens new window) on the Payments and Statements tab, click "Submit or verify my SIN". Funds received through this application are taxable and receiving an award will generate a T4A tax document.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Global Learning or Global Experience Award, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered with a full-time (67% or greater) course load in a post-secondary program
  • Be a Domestic or International student
  • Complete this application
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN), and
  • Participate in a broad range of global experiences to be considered for the Global Experience Award, provided the request is eligible. Review eligibility requirements.

Please note: Only students selected to participate in the Beyond Borders International Field Study will be considered for the Global Learning Award. Other eligible Global Experiences will be considered for the Global Experience Award. 

Important Information

Withdrawing from studies or dropping to part-time

  • Students who withdraw from studies or drop to part-time in the semester they are provided funding will be required to repay any funds provided through this application.

Review Process

  • Your application will be reviewed by the Financial Assistance office, and the Beyond Borders team.
  • The assessment and decisions by Mohawk College are final. All fund-related decisions will be made in a fair and substantiated fashion, according to the availability of funds.

Notifications

  • Financial Assistance will only contact students at their Mohawk College email address. Emails will be sent to you from awards [at] mohawkcollege.ca (awards[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca).
  • Students completing and submitting this application are responsible to read and review all messages from Financial Assistance.
  • Failure to respond to email requests from awards [at] mohawkcollege.ca (awards[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca) may result in you being removed from consideration for funding or a delay in allocating funds.
  • Students inquiring about their application submission must send their inquiry from their Mohawk College email account.
  • Students can indicate if they do not want to receive emails from Financial Assistance but notifications or updates regarding application submissions will not be sent to an alternate email address.

Application Submissions

  • All information submitted within this application will be kept in the strictest confidence and can only be disclosed to the student applicant via their Mohawk College email.
  • If you need to adjust or edit your application after it has been submitted, you will need to submit another application with your adjustments before the closing date. Your last submission will be reviewed.
