Frequently Asked Questions:

Why is Mohawk College doing this now?

The Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security has initiated this review which will help to assess and validate the changes we have already made and identify areas for improvements. Mohawk College agreed to participate. This review is designed to build on work that we have already done. It is also to ensure that the college continues to operate effectively and efficiently in an evolving post-secondary landscape, while responding to the changing needs of students, employers, and the broader labour market.

Is this the same process that has been used by other colleges?

Yes. Fourteen colleges completed the same review process last year, while four others are going through it this year.

What areas of the college will this review look at?

This review will assess the impact of recent changes on things like service delivery and identify how Mohawk College can best balance resourcing, efficiency, and its value proposition to students and the broader community.

All third-party reviews must include consideration of efficiency opportunities in all of the following focus areas:

  1. Governance, administrative and student services
  2. Academic programming
  3. Physical assets and facilities
  4. Collaborative procurement opportunities
  5. Revenue-generating opportunities

It will also build on recent initiatives – including the academic program review, academic space planning, ERP system implementation, and the Brand Strategy launching in September 2025 – ensuring strong alignment across efforts to position Mohawk for long-term success.

Who is leading the review?

Mohawk College is working with StrategyCorp, one of the consultants approved by the province to complete this process.

How long will the review take?

The consultation and review process will take several months with a final report and set of recommendations to be presented to the Board of Governors for review and endorsement before it is submitted to the Ministry in early December.

How can employees ensure their voice is heard?

Employees are encouraged to ask questions or provide confidential input directly to StrategyCorp by emailing them at EngageMohawkEAR [at] strategycorp.com (EngageMohawkEAR[at]strategycorp[dot]com). Questions or comments submitted to StrategyCorp are considered confidential and the identities of those providing feedback will not be shared with anyone at the college.

Does Mohawk have to pay for the review?

There is no cost to the college. The fees for StrategyCorp are covered by the province to a maximum of $500,000.
