Graduate of Medical Laboratory Technology Program – Mohawk College
My interest in Healthcare started when I was in High School. I volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, helping to admit patients and move them around to other hospital departments. (In those days, they called us Candy Strippers because of the pink and white uniforms we wore.)
After a friend’s recommendation, I decided to attend Mohawk College, to study Medical Laboratory Technology. Graduating from this program gave me the opportunity to have a wonderful, diverse and fulfilling career.
After graduating, I worked at the Hamilton General Hospital, where I soon learned that my passion was working with students to help them develop their skills in the laboratory.
The next career milestone came when I became Faculty in the Medical Laboratory Technology Program. This move to Mohawk College, provided other amazing opportunities. As a Program Manager in Continuing Education Health Sciences, I was able to interact with other Allied Health Programs and Students, to provide Continuing Education Programming. In my role as a Program Manager, I was part of a group that developed a Bridging Program for Internationally Educated Medical Laboratory Technology.
Now I am happy to bring some Basic Blood Collection Knowledge, to the amazing students in the Cardiovascular Technology Program!
