Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes aligned with these modules include:
- use appropriate terminology related to Indigenous peoples, places, and events;
- question ways in which stereotypes pertaining to Indigenous peoples have been created and perpetuated, identifying the role media plays in perpetuating stereotypes, and identifying key figures in Indigenous history;
- discuss the origins of Treaties in Canada, and identifying the connections between natural resources and Indigenous Communities;
- describe the origins and histories of various policies and acts that continue to govern Indigenous peoples today, describe the role of Residential Schools and how they have effected Indigenous peoples, acknowledge the Inter-generational impacts of Residential schools, and acknowledge the significance of oral teaching and traditional means to education;
- identify contributing factors to health issues in Indigenous communities and differentiate between institutional and epistemic racism; and
- discuss the Calls to Action identified by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).
