WiTT Symposium Events

Symposiums are one of WiTT's premiere events, focused on discussion and exploration of an important topic. Participants will have the ability to learn from an expert panel, ask questions, and hear a variety of perspectives.


Finding your Ideal Workplace for Today and Beyond 

The Finding your Ideal Workplace Symposium was held on Thursday, March 10th 2022. This event was hosted by Mohawk College’s Women in Technology and Trades group and made possible through the support of RBC and the RBC Future Launch program.

This event featured a panel of amazing speakers:

  • Maria Holland, Community Manager of Personal & Commercial Banking at RBC for Downtown Hamilton
  • Lindsay Anderson, Director of Human Resources at Stelco
  • Marcy Bastien,Human Resources Business Partner at L-3 Harris’s WESCAM Division
  • Andrea Peckart, Vice President, Homeowners Relations at Branthaven Homes
  • Jim Mallett, President & CEO of Paradigm Transportation

The event also featured opening remarks from Elizabeth Fabbroni Martin, Associate Dean of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology at Mohawk College and Maria Holland from RBC. Linda Rourke from Mohawk College was the emcee for this event.

Advocacy

The Advocacy Symposium was held on Thursday, November 24th, 2021. This event was hosted by Mohawk College’s Women in Technology and Trades group. This event featured a panel of amazing speakers:

  • Adrianna Bozur, Project Coordinator for the Pre-Apprenticeship Program at YWCA Hamilton
  • Joëlle Kabisoso, Founder and Executive Director of Sisters in Sync
  • Tracy Medve, President and CEO of KF Aerospace

The event also featured opening remarks from Alison Horton, Vice President Academic of Mohawk College and Shaundra Harnish, Community Manager in Hamilton for RBC. Linda Rourke was the emcee for this sensational event.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Symposium was held on Thursday, February 4th 2021. This event was emceed by Linda Rourke from Mohawk College.

The Future of Work Symposium was held on Thursday, November 5th, 2020. It was hosted by Mohawk College's Women in Technology and Trades (WiTT) group, Community Access and Engagement department, Indigenous Initiatives Office, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion department.
