Alysa De Bellis is faculty in Mohawk College’s School of Climate Action and coordinator of the Environmental Technician program. She has a Masters of Earth and Environmental Science from the University of Waterloo. Prior to working at the college, Alysa held roles in industry, academia, and government with a focus on water resource management and protecting water quality.
Alysa is known by her students to be a fair, approachable and engaging instructor and mentor. She is committed to finding experiential learning opportunities for students including a student-led campus tree inventory in partnership with the college’s Sustainability Office as well as field trips to Conservation Areas and Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities. Alysa has contributed to research through Mohawk College IDEAWORKS with a focus on cyanobacteria and water quality. She is an advocate for sustainable practices and in 2024 she co-signed the Beyond Benign: Green Chemistry Commitment at Mohawk College. Alysa also participates as a community partner with the City of Hamilton’s Watershed Management Division.
